Constant Uncertainty by Angkrit Ajchariyasophon at 338 OIDA, 12 December 2013 – 28 February 2014

With the human life span averaging 70 years, and our planet earth existing for more than 4.5 billion years, it is in this limited timescale of human life we have learned to live with rapid changes. Knowing this lets us accept that nothing actually belongs to us, or is ever permanent. Our greatest fears are loss, separation and death – each just a natural process of life.

The state of abstraction surpasses the confinements of self, exceling beyond logic – beyond thoughts. The practice of painting does not allow one to enter this state. However, the gesture of time spent in the creation process of painting does express the commitment without having to materialize the action, relating it to the abstract concept. This abstract concept is neutral and common, while meanings and symbols are conjured by the audience from their own emotions and thoughts.

Therefore, Constant Uncertainty.

Angkrit Ajchariyasophon is a painter and gallery owner in Chiang Rai, Thailand. His artistic practice revolves around mixed media, drawing, photography, performance and, more recently, abstract paintings. His curatorial experience includes exhibitions such as ‘THE POST SUPERHUMANITY’ at Angkrit Gallery, Chiang Rai, Thailand (2010), ‘An Unforgettable show together!’ at WE-LOW Gallery, Aichi Triennale(2013) in Nagoya, and ‘Chiang Mai Now!’ at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre, Thailand (2011). ‘Chiang Mai Now!’ was a contemporary art and cultural exhibition presenting artists and cultural activists who, in their quest to confront contemporary problems, create work that searches for alternative solutions and also actively facilitates networking.

Made up of all new works, on canvas and paper, “Constant Uncertainty” by Angkrit Ajchariyasophon will be at 338 OIDA Gallery 12 December 2013 – 28 February 2014. The opening will be on 12 December 2013, 18:00 – 21:00.
