The Rayong and Pattaya Ladies Circle President Mrs Jess Thakkar and her committee were joined by just over 150 glamorous guests at the beautifully decorated Mantra Restaurant. The occasion was a celebration of 21 years of expatriate women meeting new friends and old at their coffee mornings and yearly gala events. Each month the RPLC hosts a sparkling coffee morning at one of their member’s homes and in this way, have raised in excess of 1.5 million baht over the last few years, all donated to local Charities. They have also held an annual gala ball, the first being in 2013 to raise funds for specific charities.

This year’s Red Carpet event was held in aid of two local charities, “Able the Disabled” and “Take care Kids”.
“Able the Disabled” is a foundation where disabled and autistic children receive therapy from the interaction with horses at Horseshoe Point . “Take care Kids” provides shelter and a safe environment in which abused and trafficked children along with their mothers can begin to rebuild their lives.

As the theme was the “Roaring 20’s”, in honour of the RPLC’s 21st birthday, guests came dressed up in the most extravagant 1920’s attire from Downton Abbey to the Great Gatsby, a truly high class event.

There were prizes for the “best dressed lady and gentleman”, won by Mrs Ann Ensell and Mr Dave Brent, respectively.

The “best dressed couple” were Mr and Mrs Pauline and Richard Foulstone.

The “Most spectecular dressed” Award of the evening went to Mrs EG Brubaker.

Sponsors for the night were Fisher and Paikel who donated two luxury refrigerators for the raffle, the Amari Hotel with a selection of wonderful prizes, including overnight stays at its Ocean Tower, the Dusit Hotel with a spa treatment voucher. Other prizes included a Kindle Paperwhite and a bottle of Moët Vintage Champagne donated by RPLC.

A delicious sit down dinner was prepared and served expertly by the Amari staff, a birthday cake was presented to the guests and a selection of cheeses and port finished off the meal. “Bubbles”, were served all night to the guests in true 1920’s fashion.

Entertainment was provided in style by saxophonist Mr “Woody Kool Sax” . There were superb dancers provided by Dance Queens Entertainment Bangkok , choreographed by Ramona Neaga, who performed in true 1920’s style, along with super cool era inspired music provided by DJ Jorge Luis Chocano know as “DJ Jorge DJcola”.

RPLC and their guests managed to raise a total of 150,000 Baht to be equally divided between the two chosen charities. A wonderful achievement and RPLC is grateful to their generous guests and sponsors.

The evening was a great success, guests and RPLC alike enjoyed this 1920’s inspired event with a difference, where the guests stepped into a bygone era of elegance and sophistication.
